Started collaborative research with Hokkaido University Hospital on “Automated Planning of Stereotactic Radiotherapy for Metastatic Brain Tumors”.

AiRato and Hokkaido University Hospital begin joint research on “automated planning of stereotactic radiotherapy for stereotactic brain tumors”.

AiRato and the Department of Radiotherapy, Hokkaido University Hospital have started a joint research project on “Automated planning of intensity-modulated rotational radiation therapy for esophageal cancer” in April 2025.

Research Content and Objectives

In this study, we will develop a technology that can automatically create* stereotactic radiotherapy radiotherapy treatment plans on CT images by AI analysis of the distribution of radiotherapy treatment plans for patients with brain metastatic tumors for which radiotherapy is indicated. In the future, we aim to implement this technology in society as AI-based radiotherapy planning support software.

Stereotactic radiotherapy: A method of concentrating radiation from a direction facing the lesion. It is also called pinpoint irradiation, and compared to conventional radiotherapy, it is possible to minimize the radiation dose to surrounding normal tissues.

Research Characteristics and Prospects

AiRato’s proprietary AI analyzes a variety of radiological images by combining them, and by conducting joint research on this AI technology with Hokkaido University Hospital, which has top-class clinical data and clinical knowledge in Japan, we aim to develop an automatic treatment plan generation AI for radiation therapy that can be truly utilized in clinical settings. We aim to develop an automated treatment plan generation AI for radiotherapy that can be truly used in clinical practice.

◯AiRato Corporation

The treatment of cancer with radiation has been receiving a tailwind in recent years. Surgery, anticancer drugs, and radiation are known as the three major treatments for cancer. Of these, radiation therapy can treat cancer without scalpel or pain, and is in growing demand as a minimally invasive treatment that is less physically demanding. With the mission of “saving all cancer patients through radiotherapy,” IRAT Corporation is working to develop a medical AI-based radiotherapy planning service to improve treatment outcomes and workload for cutting-edge radiotherapy.
